This post is part of my ongoing Publishing Timeline series, where I share marketing and publicity recommendations within the framework of a timetable to help authors effectively and strategically plan their book campaigns. You can view all the entries to-date here.

The normal course for many of my posts in the Publishing Timeline series is to share context and recommendations around a timetable — I think this framework works pretty well. If you understand what you should be doing and when, you can process that info, and then inventively integrate into your own, unique campaign plan. And I think that’s key — to follow something to the letter is never that much fun, nor is it a good idea. You have to bring your own creative spin to your campaign effort, not only to give it a fighting chance to make an authentic impact, but so that you yourself are fulfilled and having some damn fun as you work to get your book into the hands of readers.

This is true all along the way, but can perhaps be best encapsulated in the all-important #PubDay — a culminating milestone in which your book is officially published / out in the world / in bookstores across the land.
